The northern region of Nigeria continues to wreck bloodshed along the streets of its cities and communities. Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that a 12 month old child, a mother and eight others were killed late on Monday night [11pm] in Kano State.
According to the information gathered, the victims were burnt to death following a ghastly car accident along the Kano – Kwari road near the Takai Bridge. The accident occurred between a Golf vehicle and a heavy duty vehicle [trailer]. Some of the victims were occupants of the Golf vehicle when it collided with the heavy duty vehicle around a sharp corner – as it attempted to overtake another vehicle. Upon collision, both vehicles went up in flames – burning the occupants of the Golf vehicle beyond recognition.
The driver of trailer survived with minor burns. He was taken to the nearby hospital at Takai General Hospital for treatment – while the charred remains of the passengers were buried at Takai cemetery.
The Head of Operation, Federal Road Safety Commission [FRSC], Kano Command, Malam Kabiru Nadabo confirmed that “10 died from the accident” and that it was caused by “a dangerous overtaking by the gulf car“.
