To douse streams of unfounded speculations of divisions and build on existing unity in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, the National Chairman of the party, His Excellency Alhaji /(Dr.) Bamanga Tukur, CON, will be in the state on a working visit. While on the visit, Bamanga Tukur will be hosted to a dinner at the Rivers State Government House by Governor Chibuike Amaechi, CON.
This was contained in a statement in Port Harcourt by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Mr. George Ukwoma-Nwogba, who further disclosed that the National Chairman will meet with the party State Working and Executive Committee as well as the faithful.
Calling on its members to display the traditional Rivers State hospitality, Ukwoma-Nwogba described the visit as a vote of confidence on the State Executive Committee led by Chief Godspower Ake and urged the party faithful to turn out in large number to accord the National Chairman rousing reception.
In speaking further, Ukwoma-Nwogba said the visit could not have come at a better time when Chief Ake is basking in the sunshine of his Seventy-Third Birthday, and added that the comradeship both men enjoy in partisan activism which he noted spans decades, would further be strengthened.
“Chief Ake and Alhaji Bamanga Tukur have been long in the trenches of political activism and have trodden familiar turfs. So, we in the Rives State PDP view this visit as a step forward in strengthening this age-long relationship,” Ukwoma-Nwoga asserted.
While wishing Alhaji Tukur a pleasant time in Rivers State, Ukwoma-Nwogba said the ruling party in Rivers State stands to build on the strength of the visit.
