Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has commanded the Nigerian
army for their doggedness in the fight against kidnapping and crime in

the state.

Governor Okorocha made this commendation during a courtesy call by the

Commander 82 Division of Nigerian Army Enugu, Major Gen. Adebayo A.

Olaniyi at the Government House, Owerri.

He said that, if not for the support of the military to the other

security agencies, the country would have been overrun by criminal and

hoodlums.

Governor Okorocha applauded high level discipline in the Nigerian Army

and called on the federal government to introduce military training as

part of school curriculum in our secondary schools to ensure that

Nigerian children are taught to imbibe discipline at a very early

stage of their life.

Governor Okorocha appealed to the federal government to introduce the

local vigilante groups in our security outfit, noting that the Imo

security network introduced in the state as a taste case which has

gone a long way to reduce kidnapping and other vices in the state.

Earlier in his address, the commander 82 Division Nigerian Army Enugu,

Major general Adeboye A. Olaniyi said that he was in the Government

House to pay a courtesy call on the governor, noting that he was on a

working tour of the army formation in his Division of which Imo State

is included.

The Commander was full of appreciation to the governor for the warm

reception given to him and his entourage, pointing out that the

Nigerian Army will ever remain grateful to the governor for his

support and particularly for improved water supply at the Obinze

Barracks, vehicles, and finances for their work which has stemmed the

spread of ugly incidences of kidnapping and other crimes in the state.

He assured the governor that the army will do everything within its

powers to ensure that crime is reduced to the barest minimum in the

state.
