Governor Okorocha of Imo State has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle in the State Executive Council.
This development was communicated in a release by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Chinedu Offor, after the weekly EXCO meeting in Owerri.
The new changes include 🙁 1) The former Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Mr. Nick Oparandudu, is now Commissioner for Works and Transport;
2. The The former Commissioner for lands, Hon Uche Nwosu, is now Commissioner for Lands and Housing;
3. Barrrister Ugochi Nnana Okoro, former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, is now the Commissioner for Community Government;
4. The former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Chinedu Offor, is now the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism;
5.The former Commissioner for Community Government ,Prof Chima Iwuchukwu is now Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development ;
6. The former Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, is now Commissioner for Utilities, Public Safety and Youth Empowerment;
7. Prince Charles Onuoha, former Commissioner for Housing is now Commissioner for Special Duties;
8. Governor Okorocha also approved the appointment of Ichie Best Mbanaso as the Deputy Chief of Staff. In the same vein, he will also oversea the Ministry for Commerce and Industry. Prior to the reshuffle, Ichie Best Mbanaso was the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.
HIGHLIGHT of RESHUFFLE: Ministry of Works removed from the office of the Deputy Governor. The Ministry of Works is now headed by a newly appointed Commissioner, Mr Nick Oparandudu, and the Ministry is now to be called Ministry of Works and Transport.
The former Ministry for Utilities is now to be called Ministry for Utilities, Public Safety, and Youth Empowerment
The Ministry of Housing is now merged with the Ministry of Lands and to be called Ministry of Lands and Housing .The Commissioner is Mr Uche Nwosu. He is the husband to Governor Okorocha’s first daughter.
The Ministry for Culture and Tourism is now merged to the Ministry of Information.
Addressing Journalists after the State’s EXCO meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Mr. Chinedu Offor, said that the changes were made in order to enhance more effectiveness in the work place.
