…As Govt set to build 4,000 shops industrial cluster
Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has approved the relocation of over 30,000 indeginous shoe, leather and allied products manufacturers in the state.
Governor Okorocha who stated this when members of Leather and Allied Products manufacturers of Imo state paid him a courtesy visit in government house, disclosed that his administration will embark on construction of 4,000 capacity shops of industrial cluster to enable Imolites in the business return to the state and contribute significantly to the economic development of the state.
He explained that the gesture is to ensure that Imolites in shoe, leather and allied products in Aba, Abia state and other parts of the country return to a more conducive and friendly environment so as to play vital role in the economic transformation of the state.
The governor said that having assured him of returning to the state, his administration will ensure that the cluster is completed in a very short period, adding that both the land and the fund for the construction of the cluster will be provided before the first quarter of the year.
Earlier in his remarks, the Senior Technical Assistant (STA) to the governor, Hon. Chike Ojiakor commended Gov. Okorocha for the opportunities given to Imo sons and daughters in the sector to strive, adding that almost all the major dealers in leather and allied products and manufacturing in Abia state are Imolites.
Hon. Ojiakor pointed out that Owelle Rochas Okorocha has succeeded in alleviating the suffering of all the small and medium scale industrialists in the state by giving them sense of belongings and providing enabling environment for their business to survive.
Also in an earlier address presented by the leader of the group, Mr. Enoch Anuka thanked Governor Okorocha for his developmental strides and appealed to the governor to develop leather and allied product manufacturing cluster in the state so as to enable Imo indigenes facing hash conditions in Abia state return and contribute to the economic development of the state.
Mr. Anuka disclosed that Imo indigenes who are artisans at Ariaria, Aba and other parts of the country numbering over 30,000 have made up their mind to come back to Imo state and help in the development of the state.
