The Archbishop of Onitsha and the Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke has described Governor Peter Obi as the best Governor Anambra State has had since creation. He said this on Friday, when the Governor visited and distributed mosquito nets and cheques totaling 50 Million Naira for various projects in three schools recently returned to the Church – Christ the King College, Onitsha, Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha and St. Charles Science School, Onitsha.
In his speech at those schools, the Archbishop said that return of schools to the churches with apologies and the rehabilitation of those schools was the most fundamental decision taken since the State was created. He said that with the return, that effective training of human beings had started.
Describing Obi as the most youth, education, development and future- friendly Governor, he prayed to God to always shower him and his family with his blessing for thinking about the future of the society.
In his remarks, Governor Obi assured that he would continue to partner with the church and other groups for the uplift of the society.
He said that his interest in education was out of the realization that it remained the best legacy one can bequest to the youth for future local and global challenges.
Commenting on the on-going Prof. Chike Obi Science Centre at the CKC, he said it was a project by Prof. Chike Obi’s children in collaboration with the State Government to honour the mathematician for contribution contributions to the growth of Sciences. “By honouring him, we are presenting him as a role model for the youth” as Obi concluded.
