Iranโsย state-run media said Monday the nationโs space program has successfully launchedย a monkey-manned rocket into space.
The rocket, called Pisihgam, which means โPioneerโ inย Farsi,ย ย reportedly reached 72 miles and the monkey returned safely to earth,ย theย ย report stated.
This isnโt the first animal launch for Iran. In 2010, theย nationย reported the successful rocketย trip of a mouse, a turtle andย worms.
The United States regards the launches with alarm. Whiteย Houseย spokespeopleย are concerned the launch could lead to technologicalย ย advancements inย Iranโsย long-range-missile program.
