The Association of Rural Electrification contractors of Nigeria who oversees about one thousand, six hundred Rural Electrification projects across the country, Rising from its first executive council meeting for the year 2013 in Abuja on Wednesday said they Identify with president Goodluck Jonathans Transformation Agenda, and the power reforms of the present Administration.
In a statement signed by the National chairman of the Association chief Obiako C. Obiako and the National publicity secretary Engr. Joshua A. Olatunde made available to newsmen stated that their Association has faith in the workability of Mr. Presidents Transformation Agenda in the areas of power reform and they would partner with the federal government to ensure that its desire of stabilizing Electricity in Nigeria is achieved within the shortest possible time.
The Group chairman chief Obiako C. Obiako expressed gratitude to the federal government on behalf of its members led by president Goodluck Jonathan for commencing payments of old Debts owed its members, promised that all federal government rural electrification projects will be completed before new contracts could be awarded.
He urged his teeming members to utilize the funds paid to them to complete the various rural electrification projects at different locations all over the country, as to obtain quick positive results in improving power supply.
On this note the National chairman on behalf of the Association of rural electrification contractors of Nigeria also is using this medium to appeal that the Honourable minister of state (power) the Managing Director Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and all other relevant stakeholders to kindly put all the necessary machinery in motion to ensure early completion of all ongoing projects, as it will definitely bring the dividends of Democracy such as rural development, rural transformation, wealth creation, employment opportunities security etc.
The statement also appealed to the Hon. Minister of state (power) managing director (REA) the senate and members of the National Assembly to assist in ensuring that the federal ministry of finance captures the ongoing Rural Electrification projects nationwide in the 2013 supplementary budget.
They contended that the completion of these projects is paramount to the economic development and is very necessary in order to compliment the positive view of President Goodluck Jonathan and that of the coordinating minister of the economy that all ongoing projects should not be abandoned but should be completed before awarding new ones.
The Association executives has scheduled for a general meeting of its members across the nation slated to hold on the 30th January 2013 at Otiti plaza hotel Wuse 11.
The meeting shall dwell and focus vividly on how the Association would partner and effectively ensure that Mr. President Transformation Agenda in boosting electricity to the nation is adequately enhanced.
The meeting shall touch critical issues of payment of outstanding Debt on projects already executed by the members of the Association and to facilitate the development of incoming new projects.
