The campaign organisation of Prince Dayo Adeyeye, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Adedaayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM) has hailed the Appeal Court judgment declaring illegal, the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s sack of elected Local Government chairmen and councillors, saying; “The judgment is a further exposure of Fayemi and his party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) disregard for the rule of law.”
Speaking through its Director General, Hon. Bisi Kolawole, PAAM said; “it is no longer in doubt that Fayemi has turned Ekiti State to a Banana Republic where rule of law has been thrown to the dogs.”
PAAM called on well meaning Ekiti people to prevail on Fayemi to desist from illegalities, adding that; “The judgment of today will take over N2 billion out of the Local Governments’ purse and that is monumental.”
The statement read: “We are happy that once again, the judiciary has risen in defence of the rights of Nigerians by ruling against the illegal sack of duly elected Local Government chairmen and councillors by Fayemi just because they belonged to the PDP.
“Most importantly, we are glad that the court once again ruled to salvage the Local Government administration, which has been destroyed by Fayemi and his party.
“With this judgment, those who have been deceived by Fayemi’s claim to respect for democracy and constitutional governance can now see that he is worse than a military dictator.
“By the judgment too, the 16 Local Councils in the State are now indebted to the tune of over N2 billion and if expected payments to sacked chairmen and members of Commissions are added, avoidable judgment debts already incurred by Fayemi will be more than N4 billion.
“It is therefore our plea that well meaning Ekiti people should prevail on Fayemi to stop this reign of illegalities so as to prevent Ekiti State from going bankrupt.”
