It was a gathering of younger generation recently at the Imo concorde
Hotel, Owerri when youths from all over the globe including Houston Texas, South Africa, Thailand and Nigeria gathered to launch Governor
Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s leadership concept enshrined in a magazine
called “Rochanomics”
The launching of its maiden publication had over 13 million Naira was raised with N10 million coming from the Chairman of the occasion, Engr
Godson Onukwugha.
Speaking during the occasion, governor Okorocha said he was happy to
see the youths from all over the globe coming together to celebrate
and propagate his ideals on leadership.
According to governor Okorocha, Generation Rochas is an idea that was
first launched in Houston, Texas USA and has since metamorphosed into
a movement, stressing that it’s all about bequeathing qualitative
leadership ideals to the upcoming generation.
He said that Africa needs leaders that possess quality character and
idea that can put men and materials together as God has blessed Africa
with abundance resources to effect the changes that can turn the
continent from backwardness to a great developed continent of the
world. Okorocha said Rochanomics is also an economic theory put
forward by himself to create a change from the present political and
economic power distribution.
According to him, the theory seeks to release more powers from the
head which is the federal government to the tummy and legs which are
the state and local governments. “The problem of Africa is not
because God hates us rather it’s lack of good leaders”, he observed.
He outlined what makes good leadership stressing that a good leader
must be well informed as the difference between the big and small man
is information available to them, and that a good leader must have a
change of attitude as “it is your attitude that determine your
altitude; your attitude to life must be very positive because what you
think is what you will finally be”
“It is your packaging that determines your price, you must discover
those things you fine easy to do, that is what is called talent” he
explained.
Governor Okorocha said that Rochanomics is the spirit of “Generation
Rochas”, adding that every leader must wear his head cap of sacrifice.
“ If you cannot make sacrifice, you cannot be a good leader, there is
no time or stage for sacrifice, do it at the slightest opportunity
available to you” he noted.
He pointed out that a good leader must have a political will that
enables him to stand by his decisions and be prepared to decentralize
power for speedy development.
Speaking earlier in his address, the Executive Assistant to the
governor on Special Duties, Hon tochukwu said Generation Rochas is a
legacy bequeathed to our globe. “That is to showcase to the world at
large how not to think of next political activities or election but to
think of next generation and how not to think of personal gains but of
communal good” he said. He added that it was a movement to empower
the youth with practical ideals of qualitative leader with human face.
He explained that the organization, Generation Rochas is partnering
with Bill Clinton Initiative to develop a comprehensive leadership
programme for African youths adding that the event of the day was to
showcase the socio-political and economic theory of Owelle Rochas
Okorocha.
