Gunmen yesterday attacked Christian corps members behind Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Jalingo, Taraba state capital charting away thousands of Naira including their monthly allowance.

The bandits who stormed the Family House of the Redeemed Christian Corpers Fellowship (RCCF) held the corps members hostage for hours after raiding them of hundreds of thousands and other valuables.

The gunmen gained entrance into the Corps Member lodge from a toilet in the female wing of the building charted away three laptops, about 24 mobile phones and thousands of naira.

“we are about 20 corps members in the lodge last when it happen, and all our phones were taken away, some of us had two, three phones, also our monthly feeding allowance which we contributed was also taken away by the evil men.”

A corps member who does not want his name in print said “we were sleeping when some men came in holding all sort of dangerous weapon but we never resist them, we obey their orders because we were socked in fears, they asked us of our state of origin and religion threatening to behead us if we misbehave. ”
RCCF president Banji Omogbehin said the motive of the attack was unknown because the bandit where asking us of our state of origin, threaten to rape our ladies and behead us.

Officials of the NYSC who visited the corps members said the issue will be seriously dealt with, as the scheme will not tolerate such act on its serving corps members.

However Police spokesperson Amos Olaoye said the case is not a robbery case but burglary and stealing, “I can confirm the attack but its not robbery, we have not made any arrest yet but the police are investigating.”

The case has been reported to GRA police division

  1. TARABA STATE INCIDENCE: The police without investigation have already concluded and came up with finding that it was not a case of armed robbery but buglary and stealing. WHO TOLD YOU? That is the reason why fruitful investigations have not being carried out in some cases in Nigeria. I implore the police to always unravel issues before pronouncement in order for the victims and the entire citizenry repose confidence in your activities which will also move our country forward.

  2. This is unfortunate – NYSC has outlived its usefulness and it should be scrapped. Refusal of Fed. govt to disband the programme is as a result of pressure from contractors, organization (who hire corpers paying them peanut) and politicians (who get bribe from contractors that supply NYSC materials) who are benefiting from the scheme at the expense of innocent lives of Nigerian future leaders whose parents have suffered to train these wards and now being taking away from them in the name of service to satisfy selfish few. How many more lives would be lost, how many more ladies would be raped, how many more would die in road accident before the Federal council this program. Until the child of a prominent Nigerian dies maybe.
This particular incident is an obvious case of ARMED ROBBERY, against what the incompetent police spoke’s person claimed. How else would these have become robbery (when live is lost or one of them is injured). These kids were attacked with dangerous weapons and dispossessed of their belongings and you call it burglary and stealing – may God save Nigeria from under trained ignorant and incompetent police.

  3. if some states dont want corpers, they should sending them there instead of risking d lives of young innocent gratuates meant to be useful to us tommorrow, enough is enough
