Bloody Friday in Yobe as 29 people died

It was a bloody Friday in Yobe state, north east Nigeria as 29
people perished in a ghastly motor accident along Potiskum-
Kano Road, at Daniski village, in Nengere Local Government
Area of the states.

Reports say those who died were burnt beyond recognition
while 11 other commuters were seriously injured in the accident.

Police say the accident occurred when two buses loaded with
passengers and travelling on the opposite side collided and
busted into flame.

A statement by the Nigerian police spokesman, Frank Mba,
warned against reckless driving, over speeding, over-loading
and flagrant disobedience to road traffic laws and regulations.

Mba also urged police officers “attached to the Police Highway
Patrol to work with other security agencies, to assist road users
in preventing road accidents and rendering prompt assistance
to victims of road mishap on our highways.”

Remains of those dead have been deposited at the mortuary of
the General Hospital Potiskum while those injured are also
receiving treatments at the hospital.
