Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has commended the doggedness and courage of Blessing Okagbare, the Nigerian finalist at the just concluded 100m female event of the 2012 Olympics.
The Governor said that in spite of the injury that impeded her performance, Okagbare posted her best time ever in the Olympics outing.
Typical of his fatherly role to the State-born athletes, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan had a telephone conversation with Okagbare yesterday (Monday August 6th) at about 3:30pm Nigerian time and encouraged her not to despair.
“The entire State is solidly behind you, be encouraged and do not despair”, he charged her.
He said that the State government will continue to support Okagbare and other Nigerian athletes of Delta State origin and urged them to remain focused and dedicated.
