Information available to 247ureports.com through sources close to the activities at the Federal Housing Agency [FHA] indicates that the Managing Director [MD] of the FHA may be in trouble with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebelemi Jonathan, over illegal acquisition of landed properties in Abuja from the legal owners – for resell to top politicians in need of land in choice locations in Abuja.
According to available information, the Presidency had received a petition against the MD of FHA, Terver Gemade concerning the illegal acquisition of a landed property [Apo 2 extension] located along the road Mechanic Village in Apo near the Gudu Cemetery. The petition informed the Presidency that Terver Gemade had forcefully acquired the landed property and sold it to a construction company [ENL] owned by the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu. Included in the petition were documents showing the rightful owners of the properties – along with court issued injunctions against FHA’s continued activity on-site. [FHA had sold the land to Tinubu’s ENL – and the company has begun work on the property.]
Responding to the petition, the presidency assigned the petition to the desk of the Chief of Staff to the Presidency. The Chief of Staff in a query letter dated June 19, 2012 addressed to the MD of FHA with reference SH/SHC/03/VOL 9/187 and signed by Jalal A. Arabi for the State House Counsel for the Chief of Staff to the President – stated that a petition had been submitted against the MD for his sack over the Apo 2 extension property. The letter requested for the MD’s response.
It is unsure the outcome of the query. But the FHA in conjunction has re-mobilized to the site. This is following arrest [for a 3rd time] of officials of the FHA and contractors working for Tinubu’s ENL Construction Consortium on Friday June 22, 2012 by the police of the FCT command. Three officials from the FHA and four contractors working for Tinubu were arrested for their repeated refusal to heed the court order on injunction barring the FHA and Tinubu agents from entering the Apo Extensin-2 area to perform construction work. The police had already arrested the said men two other occasion – and on one occasion as the police approached the FHA and Tinubu men – they ran away – only to return to site to continue construction work two days later. The arrested contractors who were employed by Bola Tinubu’s firm to execute were – Hudeco Nigeria Limited, Saidkraft Nigeria Limited, J-2 Standard Investment Nigeria Limited and MS-Alfaplus Associates Nigeria Limited.
The arrested officials were bailed on the evening of the same Friday – and a court arraignment date was set for July 27, 2012. They were bailed by the Deputy General Manager of the FHA.

The duo of the MD and Tinubu’s company are said to be involved in the illegal land grab deal. Tinubu’s company was reported to have paid monies in excess of N355million to the MD of FHA for the forced acquisition of the said lad – in order to develop ‘a housing estate’ which the Tinubu Company will sale in piecemeal or rent out to a management firm. The MD of FHA, on his part, is said to have the Benue State gubernatorial exercise in sight – and has been amassing monies against the exercise.
