Updated: Explosion in Kaduna State day after curfew was relaxed, 2 injured

Just a day after the Kaduna State government further relaxed the curfew in the state for Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Chikun and Igabi area of the state from 7am to 7pm and 7am to 8pm in other parts of the State, a bomb blast has exploded in Kaduna State at about 7:30pm. Two people were reported injured.

As a result, panic has overtaken the residents of Malaban Jos who reportedly ran for their lives at about 7:40pm when an Improvised Explosive Device [IED] exploded a few yards away from the venue 2012 Army day celebration in Jaji, Kaduna state- which is still ongoing. Sources who spoke to our correspondent indicated that the bomb blast occurred at around 7:40 pm during the evening rush to beat the 7pm curfew.
According to unofficial sources,  the explosion occurred near Kaduna metropolis along the Kaduna -Kano Express Way.  The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations  1 Mechanized Army Division, Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman who confirmed the incident stated that the [IED] exploded at Walkatabu Road at Mararaban Jos along the Kaduna-Zaria Express road.
However an eyewitness report from a resident of the area, Musa Sule, indicate that the two people that sustained injuries were the suspects themselves.  According to the witness, “the bomb was not meant to explode there”. It exploded prematurely. “The explosion went off while it was about to be planted”, Sule said.
