Information made available to 247ureports.com indicate that Hon. Farouk Lawan has been released by the police. Sources state he returned home on Saturday.

His release however was conditional. He was mandated to produce the alleged $620000 bribe not later than end of next week. The  Commissioner of Police in charge of the Special Task Force (STF), Mr. Ali Amodu granted Lawan bail at about 4pm Saturday afternoon  in the presence of one of the counsel, Rickey Tarfa [SAN].

It is recalled the honorable member was detained at the police headquarter following an invitation to appear at the police station. He was arrested as he honored the invitation on the evening of Friday June 15, 2012. Following his arrest, the men of the Nigerian Police Force, [NPF] visit his home and conducted a search of the house and premises in search of evidence. As 247ureports.com gathered from officers within the police force, the men of the NPF who expected to find the remains of the alleged $500,000 bribe money given to him by the shady oil mogul, Femi Otedola, were disappointed when they were only able to find Naira currency at his home.

Sources inside the NPF revealed that while Hon. Lawan was in custody he remained lively in spirit – and tight lipped. A source said that the normally fast-lipped lawmaker was selective in the manner he spoke. Hon. Lawal was given free access to his counsel and to close associates.
