A suspected medical officer and fake Brig General who has been terrorizing well-placed citizens in the South East zone especially Anambra state was yesterday arraigned before an Awka Magistrate court 1.

The move according to the state Director of SSS was sequel to the conclusion and hand over of the suspect, names withheld to police at the end of their (SSS) investigation.

According to him, the man in his early-fifties was arrested on the tip off by some members of the public, especially the executive of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state led by Prince Ken Emeakayi.

The fake Army General was reported to have been going round the state passing-off as a Brigadier General from the Director of Military Intelligence (DMI) and was in the state with a message from his office for and from some named prominent citizens as well as members of the political class in the state.

The Director of SSS confirmed that a clearance check from the Military authorities was obtained for them to hand him over to the police for prosecution. The investigation from the authorities even revealed he was neither a soldier nor even a civilian staff of the DMI. But confirmed he did his National Youth Service (NYSC) at a military hospital, as “a medical officer”.

On his part, Prince Emeakayi noted that he had to alert the SSS when they suspected the strange man’s comportment, temperament and mannerisms as he stormed the party’s Udoka Estate office asking very touchy and sensitive questions and comments. He said his party was disturbed and taken aback by what he described as the seeming reluctance of the police and the SSS to carry out a thorough investigation of the matter with a view to unraveling his true mission and sponsors, especially in view of the prevailing security challenges in the country.

Hear him, “…from all that happened that day, the man indicatively was buying time waiting for some people to come and join him. He was calling them frantically on the phone expressing worries as to what was delaying or holding them from getting to my office.

“He was just saying things that never made sense to me; he had alleged that Gov Peter Obi, Chief Chuma Nzeribe, Comrade Tony Nwoye, etc knew that he was coming and  why he came. He also said that they have been working for Gov Obi and also want to work for Dr Andy Uba. It was when he said that his group can kill anyone they wish and take whatever they want by force that I became very scared and apprehensive. So discreetly I sent a text message to the SSS Director for immediate intervention and he sent his men to pick him up.

“The man also claimed that those names he threw up could willingly testify to the operations of his group. He told us that he is an Army Officer from the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI), Lagos. I suspected strongly that the man was sent to come and track me down while waiting for the other members of his gang to arrive. It also appeared to me that his mission has political undertone”, Emeakayi narrated.

The Investigating Police Officer (IPO), Inspector Edet brought the matter before the court on behalf of the state.
