Social critic and crusader Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha has resigned his appointment as the Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly today the 17th of December 2013.
His Resignation came following intrigues at the Office of the Speaker. It will be recalled that few weeks ago, Citizen Ikenna Samuelson threatened to expose Political Appointees who instead of doing their job, embraced corrupt practices thereby distorting the good programmes and policies of the State Government led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha. Earlier before the threat to expose corrupt appointees, Samuelson had written, a letter to the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly (Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu) hinting the corrupt practices of His Chief of Staff (Hon. Kodichi Anamekwe). The letter was written on the 7th of November 2013. Ever since then, the Speaker’s Office became jittery and afraid of Samuelson who also copied the said letter to the Clerk of the House and Honourable members of the Assembly. Although most of the Honourable members pleaded with Samuelson to sheath his Sword against the Chief of Staff, the Social Crusader maintained that “My nature as a social crusader will not allow me to keep quite when things are going wrong in my socio-political environment. As a reservoir of information, I cannot betray the confidence I have in myself”.
The confusion in the Speakers Office resulted in the serving of a query to Citizen Samuelson on Friday the 13th of December 2013 (exactly 36 days after). The Anti corruption Crusader responded to the query in a 9- page response which he addressed to the Speaker and copied the Chief of Staff, Special Adviser on Administration and the Speaker’s Sister, Dr. (Mrs.) Chidinma Uwajumogu (who is the defacto Speaker). In the letter, Citizen Samuelson simply directed the Speaker to set up at least a 4-man panel/committee made up of only Honourable members who must invite him (Samuelson) officially to appear before them and in the presence of pressmen to prove his allegation of corruption and fraud against the Chief of Staff. He also maintained that he must prove his allegations while still as a Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties.
Speaker Uwajumogu having failed to set up the panel, Samuelson sensing danger, came to the conclusion that it would be better for him to resign and then fight on, thereby beating them to the plot to suspend him again. Meanwhile correspondents of the Imo State House of Assembly have officially complained to the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu of fraud Allegation against his SSA on Media, Mr. Emeka Ahaneku. The said Ahaneku is accused of stealing and diverting monthly stipends meant for correspondents.
Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha has promised to give full details of corrupt practices going on in the Office of the Speaker to the Glory of Almighty God without any fear.
