The Aba Area Command of the Nigerian Police have arrested two persons Ndubuisi Anumoka and Ozioma Chinaka; for giving false information of an alleged plot by four transporters in the city to assassinate the chairman of Abia State Taskforce on Environment and Allied Matters, Capt. Awa Udonsi Agwu (Rtd).

247ureports.com gathered that the Taskforce has been on war path with the transporters around the Aba city centre over the former’s directive that motor unions should relocate to the Aba motor park which led to protests in the city last Thursday.

The arrested men who are said to belong to a rival motor union, RTEAN, on August 24, informed the Chairman of the Taskforce that four transporters, namely, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Anele, Nchekwuba Eusebius, Marcel Amadi and Victor Ezeriwe plotted to kill him.

Based on the information, Capt. Agwu (rtd) reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the four transporters.

On interrogation, the four suspects denied the allegation, saying it was a ploy by their detractors to pitch them against the Abia state government.

Determined to get to the root of the matter, policemen from the Aba Area Command traced the informant to Mr. Biggs reataurant on Azikiwe Road where he was arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect was said to have admitted passing the information he claimed was given to him by Ozioma Chinaka to Capt. Agwu, but did not know it was untrue.
