Gen-Buhari-1

A research report by an educationist and Professor of Educational Foundations in the University of Ilorin, A. A. Adeyinka, has punched holes in the claims by presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), that he sat for and got credit pass in Hausa Language from the Provincial College (now Government College, Katsina), in 1961, saying no school in Nigeria offered subjects in local languages at the time.

Adeyinka’s research report, titled ‘Major Trends in Curriculum Development in Nigeria’, had further chipped away the credibility of the Statement of Result released by the college to support General Buhari’s claims that he attended secondary school.

According to the his research, available at www.unilorin.edu, prior to the emergence of a centralised  government by the regime of General Yakubu Gowon from 1966 to 1975, all regions in Nigeria had different academic curriculums. He added that it was only the Western Region that offered a local language as a subject in both their curriculum and school certificate examinations.

The university don said it was after a central government was formed and a universal educational curriculum was developed and adopted that other local languages were included in schools curriculums in 1974.

He listed subjects in the academic curriculum to include English Language, Biology, Commerce, Principles of Accounts, Health Science, Literature in English, Bible Knowledge, History, Geography, Yoruba, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

According to Adeyinka, Yoruba entered the academic curriculum following the recommendations of a Commission set up to review the academic curriculum for schools in the then Western Region.

He wrote: “In the former Western Region, for example, both the Banjo Report (1961) and the Taiwo Report (1968) recommended the revision of the school syllabuses and the introduction of a new structure of education. The Banjo Report specifically recommended a new model for secondary education, comprising junior and senior secondary schools. The curriculum of the former should be comprehensive. This was partly the origin of the Aiyetoro Comprehensive School experiment started in 1963. The Taiwo Committee recommended that the primary-school curriculum should be overhauled and new syllabuses prepared in such subjects as Mathematics and Social Studies. Similar recommendations were made in the East (Dike 1959, Ivan Ikoku, 1964).”

General Buhari has raised a lot of dust over the delay in the release of his school certificate to support claims he made in the forms he filled with the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of requirements to contest the 2015 presidential elections on February 14.

  8. O.K. Don says:

The so call certificate tells us the sensibility of GMB. Him on his part should know that this kind of certificate will not be accepted by Nigerians. If he does not know, then it tells a lot about his intelligence. Even my child of 14 immediately asked if Katsina state existed in 1961.
This is the one who wants to fight corruption. The corruption fighter who has morality facing him. What message is he sending to younger Nigerians. The era of getting jobs with a letter from a traditional ruler is over. Nigerians of today are educa
ted and sophisticated unlike people like GMB.

YOUR BUHARI CANNOT RUN WITHOUT A SCHOOL CERTIFICATE. ASSUMING THE DOCUMENT IS VALID,IF YOU FAIL MATHS YOU CANNOT SATISFY THE REQUIREMENTS AS IT IS A CORE SUBJECT FOR OBTAINING A CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION …THE RESULT IS INCOMPLETE..THE LAW SAYS HE CANNOT RUN THE END

    • wole Alamu says:

Go to court. Its not your pronouncement that will disqualify Buhari.

    • Bunmi says:

Some people are daft. Maths is a core subject. But it has not been made a condition for the award of a certificate. There are so many lawyers out there and many graduates of Humanities that failed Mathematics are are doing fine in life. When Buhari wins, you people can go to hell

      • pinky says:

  15. Adewale says:

I think the position of the Prof bothers on the abecederian ignorance that pervades our ivory tower. Just yesterday, I read a reply to an inquiry by a concerned Nigerian to the Cambridge School Certificate examiners who actually confirmed that Hausa was one of the subjects that pupils were examined on in 1961. So if an average Nigerian could go to this extent to find out the truth, why is a Professor parroting misinformation in an age of the internet?

GMB is a saint, not corrupt, most disciplined man in Nigeria, he has not entered yet…..he has started forging certificate. why not he tell us i dnt hv certificate is better understood than messing his supporters up, not Nigeria, that is to tell u the type of leader we are voting in, are we moving forward or backward, GMB should go and sit for WEAC first before coming out to look for whom to lead

  19. CHARLES ADE says:

@Zack leez how can an application he made on the 21st of January 2015, have a picture of 1961. Please look at the dates on the statement of result. Go to your Secondary school and ask for a statement it will have todays picture.

    • Nazir Yusuf Ochi says:

dont talk or post becouse other people do. the statement of result can be issued at any time and ur current picture can still stand for you. check the date it was current date not back dated. why not ask good luck to display his PHD certificate if he has it before he will continue bearing Dr. gej as he does.

  20. chizyjunket says:

  21. Haruna Oladunni says:

It is either we leave this fault finding mission or go to court. Today, Buhari is not having certificate. Tomorrow, Jonathan did not complete his doctoral programme. Next may be either GMB or GEJ is not a nigerian, they migrated from Chad, Niger or Cameroon. These will definitely take us no where. There are fundamental issues we need to address, we are busy making distractions.

  22. Adam Yahya yakubu says:

Whether GMB has cert. or not,we are voting for him comes 14th Feb.2015,by God’s grace. Above all, please, I want to know the prerequisite requirement for a one to be a president of this country.

u only need a school cert and it equavelent…..

    • shola Segun says:

you don’t even know the prerequisite requirements and you want to vote for him whether he has certificate or not. For your information, one of the requirements is that he must have a minimum educational qualification of O’ level( Secondary school) or grade II teacher. please get that!

    • ajisafe says:

The PREREQUISITE OR THE REQUIREMENT EXPECTED OF A PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT IS FIRST AND FOREMOST 1) TRANSPARENCY and 2) A VALID AND GENUINE SECONDARY SCHOOL CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY A GOVERNMENT ACCREDITED EXAMINATION BODY! Unfortunately, BUHARI DEFAULTED IN BOTH. He has been found to be INSINCERE, FRAUDULENT AND MISCHIEVOUS. We dont need this type of person as a WORKER TALK MORE OF A PRESIDENT! IT WILL ONLY TANTAMOUNT TO BADLUCK. Since you are bent on voting for him, its your choice and right but dont say WE again. AM NOT PART OF IT! Since it is YOU, am sure you know what you are voting for. Definitely not TRUTH BUT YOUR EVIL PLANS AND INTENTIONS TO DESTROY THIS NATION, DESTROY CHRISTIANS AND BE A TERROR TO THE WHOLE WORLD BY BRINGING YOUR ISIS BROTHERS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES TO HAVE THEIR BASE IN NIGERIA. YOU WILL NOT SUCCEED AS GOD IS IN CONTROL. HE IS WATCHING YOU AND NEMESIS WOULD SOON CATCH UP WITH YOU ALHAJI YAHYA!

  24. zack Leez says:

Buhari is 72 years now and he took the examination in 1961 which is 53 years ago, then subtract 53 from 72 it will give you 19. That is to say that Buhari was 19 years old when he took that examination. Then look at the picture on the said WAEC result and tell me does that look like a 19 years old boy?Katsina College releases Buhari’s WASC results?
Please kindly take a look at this result and you
will realize how fraudulent these guys are. This is
    forgery….This is FAKE.
Was there anything like NECO in 1961? Is this how
    Buhari looks like in 1961?
NECO was formed in 2000. This certificate also
bears WASSCE which was WASC until it was
changed to WASSCE in 1998. During his age, such
exams were not conducted in May/June…I mean
in the 60s. WAEC School Certificate exams used
to take place in November/December until 1973.
And again there was nothing like SSCE back then.
    Also, our sick general is quoting Katsina state;
please for your information Katsina state was
    created in 1987.
This is FORGERY. This is PEGURY… This is
    FAKE…

    • gud9ja says:

my brother na so we see am ohhhhhhhh, na only mugu go accept this cert….. to fake

    • Handerson says:

You are stupid and senseless, you can’t compare statement of result from original certificate…your eyes is weak

    • Sam says:

@Zack Leez, if we could think outside d box, our argument wud be logical. Let me talk about what I observed in ur argument. 1. Katsina existed as a province then and now that it is a state, the state will be referred to. Coincidentally, d name never changed. The issue of when Katsina state was created has been laid to rest. 2. GMB just requested for this result when he could not get the one issued to him 53 years ago (according to him). So, it is the new result statement that will be used for him, hence the WASSCE. 3. U can never compare age and look of someone about 53 years ago to a 19 years old person of today. Reason is because our diet then and now differ.
Suggestions: It is INEC that supposed to verify all credentials and not candidates. Another thing is if PDP or FFK is not comfortable with the result, why not seek redress at d law court instead of using an iliterate means? Food for thought.
Conclusion: The minimum requirement is school certificate and GMB has equivalent of MBA as the highest. This shows he is educated.
Advice: if truly PDP has good to offer, they should try and focus on issue based discussions than looking for short cut. Let the voters decide who they want!

      • superfine says:

Mr Sam is there any differences betweem “Mohamed Buhari” and “Mohammadu Buhari”?

        • Simeon Olagbenro says:

take for example among yoruba muslims, u will hear names like waidi=waheed, rafiu=raufu, kazeem=quazim, Kadiri=kadir=quadri. @ superfine, tell me if these cited names are different, and if some of them have been africanised by locals from their arabic spellings. Muhammadu is the housa version of mohammed. If U’r still not satisfied, search for the website of University of Cambridge, write the school to confirm or refute the claims made by the current Principal that issued and signed the Statement of result that is flying across the print/electronic media. I rest my case

Pls note my issue here is just an observation

      • ajisafe says:

Sam, please answer these questions if you truly have at least a valid Secondary School Certificate issued by WAEC or London Cambridge:
        1) If a father runs a DNA test to confirm the paternity of his 50 year-old son and discovers that the child is not his, what happens to that child? HE IS CUT OFF!
        2) If an athlete, after winning medals and honours, was found to have doped to win those medals and honours, what happens to the medals and honours? WITHDRAWN!
        3) If any worker with either first or post-graduate degree is found to have forged his Secondary School Certificate, what happens to that worker and to those Degrees if reported to the University(ies) concerned? DISMISSED AND CERTIFICATES WITHDRAWN!
        4) What happens to any student after gaining admission into a higher institution is found to have forged his/her Secondary School Certificate to gain this admission? EXPELLED IMMEDIATELY!
For you now to be the person LAUNDERING THE IMAGE OF A SINKING PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT IN NIGERIA IS FUNNY AND UNBECOMING! WE ARE TALKING OF A 72 YEAR-OLD, MBA, PHD (WAR TECHNOLOGY), COUP PLOTTING, CIVIL WAR AND QUOTA SYSTEM GENERAL BUHARI HERE! WHAT A SHAME!
For that forged Secondary School Certificate, HE SHOULD SIMPLY WITHDRAW OR ELSE, HE WILL BE TRIED AND IMPRISONED! SIMPLE! OTHERS GREATER THAN HIM HAVE BEEN IMPRISONED AND NOTHING HAPPENED. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE! BUHARI IS OF A QUESTIONABLE CHARACTER AND IF NOT, WHY ARE WE HERE DISCUSSING HIM? LET HIM WITHDRAW HONOURABLY AND SAVE THIS COUNTRY THE COST OF SUCH ARROGANCE.

      Zack is your name,
Please, are you a politician or falsifier?
if you are a politician, I think you don’t know what politics is all about. A politics doesn’t need any tribe, language, religion bias despite that a person deserved to rule, and that person has a positive meaning to the society. Jonathan has made our great country into pity, killings of innocents, insult and backward in particular
BUT, if you are a Falsifier, I think Gen. Buhari Has nothing you can criticize, against by His Historical background in Nigeria, although every human is bound to make a mistake in life, But the mistaken which Jonathan has made supposed to be unbearable to the honest people.
Didn’t you know how many lives were dead and continuing dying for Jonathan’s failure? don’t you have any friend/brother/relations which that incident has happened to? if you said yes, I know you must have a religion in Nigeria, so killing of innocent people doesn’t relies only on Muslim or Christian, it happens randomly.
At the end, please if you don’t like GMB to rule Nigeria, what you supposed to do is to pray for Nigeria a BETTER LEADER not only GMB but also anyone.
      Thanks.

my friends stop exposing your illiteracy in public joor, go back to your primary school for your first school leaving certificate if they would not ask for your recent passport photograph. Cambridge is not a Nigerian exam body, and it is the state he falls into that will interpret the results. When he wrote the exams there was no Katsina state, but after creation it is the duty of the state management board to issue results. Where do you expect them to get the olden days statement sheet, they would use the current ones available. At least you should learned enough to know certain basics. Crap!
