Impeachment: Secondus, PDP Governors Visit Ortom

The National Chairman of the peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus today led some governors and senators on a solidarity visit to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

Prince Secondus who addressed party supporters in Government house, in Makurdi, said the World watched with shock, the drama that ensued in Benue where an “illegal” minority group in the state of Assembly issued a governor an impeachment notice claiming they have the powers that be behind them.

He described the impeachment notice  as an act of illegality and called on Beue people and Nigerians in general to rise up and resist the APC government as a party of killings and impunity.

Prince Secondus who said they were in Benue to pay solidarity to Ortom and strengthen him in the persecutions he is facing assured that as a party, they welcome him back into the PDP family.

He promised that the party will stand by him and he should ignore all the false allegation brought against him as a result of his defection from the APC.

Speaking on behalf of the PDP governors, the Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson said as a government, they would continue to stand by Ortom to ensure that the federal government stops the nonsense killings in Benue.

Gov Dickson described the impeachment notice on Ortom by a minority eight member gang, at the Benue state house of assembly as nonsense which they would never allow.

He called on the federal govt to rise up to her responsibility of protecting lives and properties adding that it was time that democracy be is given the proper respect and protection it deserved.

He called on the people of Benue to stand by their governor even in this trying moments.

Receiving the PDP NWC and the Governors in Makurdi, Governor Ortom thanked them for identifying with Benue.

Ortom said he came back to his home party, the PDP, because he realised that the APC where he sojourned was a party for the Miyetti Allah, the party of killings and impunity.

He said he will not be intimidated by the actions of the Police, DSS, Oshiomole and the likes of Sen. George Akume and appealed to President Buhari to protect the Nigerian constitution and democracy that made him president.

Governor Ortom further announced that Benue state would continue to be a PDP state and a no go area for the APC assuring the PDP national chairman that PDP would come out victorious in the 2019 general elections starting from the ward to national level.

The state chairman of the PDP, Chief John Ngbede was on ground to receive the National leadership of the party.

He called on Governor Ortom to remain firm and not be intimated by the many persecution assuring that the PDP family would stand by him even in this trying time.
