…Says She’s Impoverishing Imolites
Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo State, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho has lampooned  the wife of Imo State governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha for purportedly feeding thousands of Imo people, saying such an act can only make the people of the state poorer.
Mrs. Okorocha had last week gathered thousands of unemployed but indigent people from across the 637 communities of the state in Owerri, the state capital and fed them through her Nneoma Kitchen and gave them wrappers and donation of cash.
She said the gesture was her way of expressing her love for mankind by putting smiles on the faces of people who feel dejected by the society and appealed to all to always find joy in sharing their wealth and blessings with those in need, stressing that wealth is meaningless when we cannot use it to help the poor and needy in the society.
But, speaking on Hot FM, Owerri radio programme today (Monday), the APGA candidate described the First Lady’s gesture as one meant to further impoverish the poor masses of the state.
“I heard the governor’s wife was feeding thousands of poor people, please she should stop that. The people do not need to be fed in this time and age. What they need right now is jobs that they earn a living themselves. We want people to earn a living themselves and making them beggars at the gate of the emperor.
Ihenacho added that gathering thousands of unemployed people and cooking for them could not be said to be sharing the state resources and helping the poor and the needy.
“The governor of the state has collected tonnes and tonnes of money to the tune of N1.2 trillion for the past four years made up of direct allocations, local government funds and borrowings. Yet, he is far removed from the problems of the people.
“That is why you can see him living in an estate like an emperor. Everybody knows about the estate in Spilbat. In a situation where Imolites are suffering from unemployment and mass poverty, does it make sense that our governor will like to live as an emperor living in a personal estate that is more than 200 plots that has built in it more than 24 buildings? Does it make sense in this time and age? That is why Imolites are saying that it’s enough for Rochas. He has succeeded in rescuing himself and family”, he lamented.
