Governor Willy Obiano of Anambra, yesterday, in Awka, appointed Mr.

Oseloka Obaze as Secretary to the State Government, SSG, following his

retention in that position from Peter Obi’s administration.

He also appointed Professor Joseph Asike as his Chief of Staff, and

Mr. Willy Nwaokoye as Principal Secretary.

The appointments came as Anambra State House of Assembly pledged its

support for the new governor to ensure  the state government achieved

greater heights.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new appointees, Obiano said they

were capable hands who had done well in their private careers and

would carry out their tasks dutifully.

“The task ahead is huge, we need the best of hands and I believe they

will deliver,” the governor said.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Oseloka thanked the governor for

the honour done to them, saying they would work to meet the

expectations of the governor to surmount the challenges of governance

in the state.

The oaths of allegiance and office were administered on the appointees

by the Solicitor-General of the state, Mrs. Tina Emekekwue.

Meanwhile, Anambra State House of Assembly has pledged its support for

the new governor to ensure the state government achieved greater

heights.

Mrs. Chinwe Nwaebili, Speaker of the House, gave the pledge in an

interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, yesterday in Awka.

“I will ensure that the legislature, which I am the head, will stop at

nothing in supporting every good intention of the governor for the

common good of the Anambra people.

“All I am asking Anambra people is to support him, they could

criticise him with love when need be for the future of our children

and generation unborn.  This is necessary so that our state can make a

great history,” she said.

The speaker said the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Peter

Obi, had done “very well in all sectors of the state’s economy.”

Nwaebili, therefore, advised the new governor to build on the

structures on ground.

Mr. Oseloka Obaze, Secretary to the State Government, who also spoke,

called on all citizens to rally round the governor by giving him

necessary support and criticism to move the state forward.

He said:  “I am confident that with God, the sky is the limit to what

this government will do to better the lot of the people, all we need

is their support.”

He said the inauguration of Obiano as the governor of the state marked

the beginning of a good thing to come in Anambra .Chief Nathaniel

Uzoma, Ekiti State Chairman, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, said that the people

of Anambra had shown that there was strength in unity by their

presence during the inauguration of Obiano.

He called on Igbos to be united where ever they lived for the

development of Igbo land and the country at large.

Mr Alex Ezeobi, Ohaneze  National Youth Leader, called on Igbo youths

to be responsive and sensitive to issues affecting their race and be

politically enlightened to face their challenges with optimism.

Mr Allison Anadi, President of Anambra indigenes in America, said that

the group would give every support to the government of Anambra to

ensure that the growth of the state “from strength to strength”.
