Nwobu who is the incumbent Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Anambra state also urged all the participants in the election, especially PDP to approach the election tribunal without further delay.

Reacting to questions from journalists on how he saw the Ekiti State experience whether it would not negatively affect the psyche of his party in the coming general elections, Nwobu said no. “My party won and it was stolen through manipulation at the collation stage.

“The whole world watched in awe as our duly nominated party representatives and agents were harassed, intimidated, arrested and molested out of the collation centres by heavily armed security operatives who by their calling ought to be neutral always.

“Again, literally speaking, by the name of the electoral umpire- the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) they are meant to be ‘independent’. But we’re they? Did they so act? Was their conduct show any form of independence?

“It’s leadership was clearly being tele-guided. I urge the APC to consider every of their moves and actions in the national interest and in the interest of the nation’s democratic process and generations to come.

APC exhibited and voiced so much desperation in the run up to the election; so much so that even their Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole had declared with emphasis that “…nothing would stop APC from taking Ekiti. ‘Not while am the Chairman and we control the government at the Centre, control INEC, control the security apparatus of the nation. No, it’s not possible’. What else do anyone need to see or hear for you to know what to expect”, Nwobu emphasized.

The PDP chief in a rare show of courage stated that the ugly experience would rather than dampening PDP spirit, would encourage, embolden and spur us to more work towards meeting the APC at the very wave length they choose, come 2019 general elections.

He lamented that recently one APC governor declared that a billboard which passed all procedures and paid for to his state government should be pulled down. More so, it was another APC governor that pulled down all party offices of those he considered his opponents. “These are obnoxious. We are in democracy but APC is fouling the air of freedom.”

When asked whether he saw what happened in Ekiti as a signpost to what to expect in 2019. Nwobu said it better no be. Because all have seen the footprint and won’t allow a repeat.
