May Arrest Impostor For Creating Crisis

All is not well with the ancient community of Awaka in Owerri North local government area following the alleged removal of Eze Akujiobi Osuagwu as Traditional Ruler of the community by Imo State Government.

Investigation into the crisis ravaging the community revealed that since past government of Chief Rochas Okorocha refused to recall Eze Osuagwu from indefinite suspension over his alleged partisanship, Chief Charles Emezi had emerged the Eze-elect of the community.

Speaking with newsmen in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, a community leader in Awaka community who simply identified himself as Nze Linus Amadi described the new Eze-elect, Chief Emezi as not only an imposter but a stranger that should be arrested and prosecuted immediately.

He wondered why Chief Emezi could lay claims to the throne after his late father contested the same stool with the current Eze Osuagwu over twenty years ago and lost woefully, advising him to instead of dragging the throne, he should channel his energy on issues aimed at bettering the well being of his people.

According to him, Charles Emezi was neither a “Chief” nor elected as Traditional Ruler of the community by anybody, warning him to stop parading himself as “Eze-elect”, and described him as a fugitive who stays in exile to ferment crisis.

He said, “Charles Emezi by all standards is not a true son of the soil of Awaka Community. In our Tradition, it is an abomination for a stranger to occupy the revered “Ezeship Stool” of the community. The current Eze Osuagwu has remained on the throne for over twenty years and does not have any problem with indigenes of our area”

“The imposter should tell the public who elected him, where his election held and who monitored the election that brought him in as Eze-elect. Nobody should take the calmness of Eze Osuagwu for granted otherwise; Charles Emezi should have been arrested for bringing shame and reproach to the traditional stool of our community. To be fore warned is to be fore armed” He concluded.

Nze Amadi therefore called on the good people of Awaka community and the public to ignore the claims of Mr. Emezi, saying that no community allows a non indigene to assume the traditional stool of their area, and advised him to first empower members of his immediate family before struggling to reap from where he did not sow.

It could be recalled that in 2015, Imo State Government under Rochas Okorocha as Governor suspended Eze Osuagwu along side with other traditional rulers in the state, but refused to recall his indefinite suspension after others were reccalled.

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach Chief Charles Emezi for his reaction on phone proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
