Embattled Anambra Monarch Insists On Buhari’s Reelection

…”cos the President saw me out of prison”, he stated

The embattled claimant to the throne of Awka-Etiti, Anambra State, Chuma Agujiugo Ojukwu, which was before now occupied by his late father has sworn to invoke the spirits of the gods of the land to clear the way for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection bid.

Ojukwu who made the public declaration during a world press conference at Awka-etiti noted it was in reciprocity to Buhari’s intervention and  effecting his recent release from Port Harcourt prison after nearly a year.

He expressed gratitude to President Buhari who he said perfected and facilitated his release from prison custody.

“By the power bestowed on me as a traditional ruler, I pronounce with Awka-Etiti kingdom’s 320 years ancient power of authority (Ofo) that Mr President, Buhari must be alive to complete his tenure till 2023,” Ojukwu prayed.

Ojukwu, the Akajiugo claimed to have been principally charged before a Rivers state Magistrate Court sitting in Portharcourt in suit No. PMC/295c/2013 on a three count charge alleging he obtained some goods under false pretense among other issues. The offence, he added was punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Law of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.

He was however discharged on two counts but was found guilty on one of the counts, but that he has now appealed to a higher court of law.

“I have now appealed to High Court through notice of appeal filed and served on December 5, 2017 based on my conviction and sentence on count three charge.

“I prayed the High Court in the notice of appeal for an order of the High Court setting aside the verdict of guilt with respect to the third count of the charge against me. An order of the High Court dismissing the charge of defamation of character against me and discharge and acquit me with respect to that count three charge,” he stated.

That he has articulated 23 grounds of appeal and would be adopted on November 9, 2018 when the case would come up for continuation.

More so that he has filed another suit No. PHC/2571/2018 before Hon Justice Godwin Osaronu Ollor praying the court for an order admitting him on bail pending the hearing and determination of his appeal.
