Queue Persists in Kano Filling Stations, N250/Liter

By Yakubu Salisu A, Kano

Long queue suddenly resurfaced in the ancient city of Kano following months of fuel scarcity biting harder across the country.

Though residents of Kano heaved a sigh of relief last week, observation has revealed that the current endless queue became a source of concern to both motorists and residents who struggled to purchase Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from filling stations across the state.

Most of the filling stations visited across the state said they have not taken delivery of the product for some time now, while those who have the product are crowded by queues of cars, tricycles and jerry cans.

The development, however, has given a lee way to black marketers who now make a fortune through brisk transactions, conniving with fuel attendants in the filling stations who sold the commodity to them in the night.

In most filling stations where the fuel is available, they sell it at exorbitant prices, ranging from N200 to N250 per litre, while at the black market, a gallon of petrol now sold at N1200 to N1400.

Commuters are also not left out  as they are now forced to trek long distance to their various destinations following the hike in transport fare by motorists and tricycle operators.
