Information reaching 247ureports.com indicates that the worst may have overcome Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa’s media aides – going by the recent actions of some of within the media team.

Specifically, the Special Assistant (SA) on Community Newspaper, Mr. Jonathan Onwuka, his SAs, social media, Godspower Asiuwhu, Nelson Egware, Success Ovie Ossai, Dantes Odogwu and Radio personalities on state owned radio, Amaechi Udemba – were reported to have turned out in large numbers to battle journalists after their principal [Okowa] ended his anniversary press briefing to mark his one year in office.

Interestingly, as the Governor ended his speech and as custom demands, the Governor left behind some money for the Journalists to share among themselves. But “these are men and women drafted from the streets to the palace, yet they are still living the street life” said one of the reporters who spoke to 247ureports.com. “One of the SA, Asiuwhu is the present Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman of Patani local government council”.

As gathered, the SAs told journalists that they would turn the Press Centre, the venue of the press briefing upside down if their share of the money was not given to them. The SAs held the place to a standstill until they were answered.

Among those who held the press center to hostage included – staff from the newsroom of the Ministry of Information, those in charge of the sound system and the Public Relations Officer (PRO), one Mr. Orji from Government House.
