The fiery priest and founder of the Enugu Adoration Ministry, Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka, again scorned his Bishop describing his transfer as a calculated attempt to suffer him.

The controversial cleric stated this Saturday when he moved to his new parish at Emene, a suburb of the state capital even as his followers wept against his transfer.

He was transferred from the Christ the King Parish by authorities of the Catholic Church following tradition of the church that no priest should stay in one parish beyond six years but, Mbaka have been in one parish for 20yrs.

This mass transfer in the church which affected well over 200 priests was perceived as witch hunt for prophesying that President Muhammadu Buhari would be assassinated for fighting corruption and his subsequent visit to the president at the villa.

Thousands of the church members, who thronged the Christ the King Parish (CKP), GRA, Enugu shed tears as several trucks, buses and cars lined up to convey the belongings of the priest and the Adoration Ministry out of the premises.

But Fr. Mbaka, who managed to control his emotions, as he looked through the wailing crowd declared that his transfer was the will of God but quickly added that he was convinced the leadership of the church approved it to make him suffer.

He said those who plotted his transfer want him to suffer, as they did not consider his security and where he would put his head.

Reviewing how much he had contributed to building the CK parish from 1997 when he was posted there without any structure till now, he stated that he had been transferred to a location where there was not enough provision to enable him continue his ministry.

He said: “I know I am going there to suffer within now and few months. I am going to suffer because I have no place to put my head.  I am going to suffer because I have no place to keep the ministry’s assets. I know I am going to suffer and fortunately it is going to happen in the month of lent.

“Although, I have accepted it as the will of God, it is a mega suffering. All these while, we have been keeping the vineyard and building the Christ the King Parish. All the money I got from my cassettes and crusades were spent on the church, the school and parsonage.”

Decrying what he described as attempt by some persons to politicise the church, by feeding the Bishop with falsehood, he noted: “I am giving God the glory and I welcome the church’s choice and action with absolute acceptance and obedience.

“So, there is no negation to what God has approved and what the church suggested. Nobody should see me as a recalcitrant priest. I am not. I have taken an oath of obedience and I stand on it,” he said.

Read Mbaka’s address to the parishioners below:

“It is the will of God; the transfer that has happened that will now take me out of this place..I’m giving God the glory and I welcome the church’s choice and action with absolute acceptance and obedience. So there’s no negation to what God has approved and what the church and see me as a recalcitrant priest; I’m not. I have taken an oath of obedience and I stand on it. So I pray God to bless all of you who in one way or the other has expressed absolute solidarity to the work of God here and those who have sincerely helped God, allowed God to use him or her for the jobs we did here all these years.

God will bless the people of God here and then reward you according to your labours so that the parish is not going to collapse because Fr. Mbaka is going out but it is the church that continues to grow.

So, my brother and like I said my son or friend, Fr. Theodore Ozoamalu, having handed over the parish now to him, he is now fully in charge under the ecclesiastical orthodoxy devoid of opposition. So he is now fully in charge as the instrument of God here to be offering sacraments to you.

Please, there are varieties of talents and charisma. Theodore can never be Mbaka and Mbaka can never be Theodore. So, please treat him well; assist him in any way he needs you, and don’t allow him to cry here. Don’t starve him, and don’t allow him to suffer.

In my own time, I didn’t need your people’s help
