Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) has raised the alarm that the All Progressives Congress
(APC) is importing thugs to the state from Lagos to cause mayhem in
the state under the guise that they are PDP supporters.
The PDP said the thugs, being mobilised from Lagos were being clothed in PDP vest and face cap.
The PDP allegation was contained iIn a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday by the Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole.
The party called on security agencies to be on the look out for the trouble makers.
“Only last Monday, we raised the alarm that the APC had commissioned some people to attack PDP leaders and were
threatening PDP leaders, some people said we were only raise false
alarm.
“And three days later, Chief Omolafe Aderiye, a leader of the
PDP in Ado-Ekiti was killed, we also have it on good authority that the APC
has commissioned thugs coming in four 18-seater buses to Ekiti.
“They were said to have left Lagos around 11 pm on Saturday, they are armed with acid, cutlasses, guns, sledge
hammer, syringe and other dangerous weapons to inflict bodily harm
on the people of Ekiti State,” the statement said.
It continues, “These thugs will appear in PDP vests and face cap to execute their dastardly act within one month, certainly, they are likely to have arrived Ekiti by now, they will move about on motorcycle to execute their dastardly
act.
“Ekiti people who gave their mandate to
Ayodele Fayose are their targets and as well the PDP members,the APC thugs are on revenge mission to avenge the defeat of Kayode Fayemi in the June 21 election and for aborting last Monday’s
judicial coup.
The statement therefore enjoined Ekiti people to be vigilant and to report any strange element to the police.
“Ekiti PDP members are to be wary of fake members in their midst and report them, we also call on the Inspector -General of Police and Director-General of the Department of State Security
Service to go into action and prevent the plan of the APC,” Oluwawole said.
Oluwawole appealed to lovers of peace in Ekiti and beyond to call on the APC to allow peace to reign and allow the
will of the people to prevail.
