…Opposition fear presidency may use the judicial option to shut down APC

===================================================

Barely 24 hours after the G7 governors, formally members of the new People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) cross carpeted to the All Progressives Congress (APC), The Federal High Court in Abuja is set to rule on the rightful owner of the ‘APC’ acronym between the African People’s Congress and the rival All Progressive Congress.

It is expected that the court will Thursday give an injunctive ruling on the suit before it, while also ruling on two other applications before it.

There are indications of tension and apprehension in the camp of the All Progressive Congress as it is believed that the Presidency in a desperate bid, may clamp down on the All Progressive Congress and the decamping G7 governors through what an APC chieftain termed, ‘the judicial option’; by leaning on the judiciary and using the suit as a weapon to shut down the opposition.

Sources at the African People’s Congress however insist that the group has been going about their litigations and agitations on their own. According to one of the sources, “The African People’s Congress already has a foothold on the political landscape of the country and at the stage we are, the party can run on its own and does not need the patronage of any strange bedfellow to execute its suits.”

Members of the African People’s Congress, APC who gathered at their National Secretariats yesterday were all in high spirit and optimistic of a favorable ruling Thursday. There was ongoing renovation work at their Apo Headquarters yesterday, with New red colored banners in APC Colors been hang on their wall to replace the weak ones that have been there since their fight over apc acronym started. The officers of the party were seen yesterday as well taking delivery of  thousands from A1 big sized colored posters with their APC propaganda message boldly printed on the New posters which is believed will flood Major streets in continuation of their over 6 months old battle to regain their registration status.

It is however believed that if there is an upset in court on Thursday, the G7 governors may end up politically stranded.

The Federal High Court which will continue the legal proceedings tomorrow on the APC legal action will be presided over by Justice Kolawale in Abuja .
