GOVERNMENT HOUSE, OWERRI

PRESS RELEASE

The Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha said his successes in life and politics is drawn from God and as such cannot be pulled down by any man.

Governor Okorocha stated this when he received members of the Nigeria Rescue Missionaries Network in Government House, Owerri.

Owelle Okorocha who maintained that numerous landmark achievements recorded by his administration would not have been possible without divine direction, noted that the ten minutes mid-day prayer in the state was instituted to seek the grace of God in the daily affairs of the state and nation.

He expressed joy that men of God could mobilize themselves in thousands for a common course of interceding for the peace and progress of Nigeria through prayers. He therefore called on ministers of God to rise to the challenge of determining the destiny of the nation rather than leave everything in the hands of politicians.

Governor Okorocha urged gospel missionaries to continue to evoke the spirit of God to ensure positive transformation of the nation and its leaders. “If politicians have failed, men of God must not fail”, he stressed.

He however expressed dismay at the unfortunate incident that happened at Aba where members of the Nigeria Rescue Missionaries were prevented from holding their national conference as earlier scheduled before their decision to reconvene at Owerri. Governor Okorocha who could not decipher why the missionaries were not allowed to hold their conference at Aba, assured he would confer with the Abia state governor to get details of what transpired.

He further volunteered to be the Patron of the Nigeria Rescue Missionaries and made a donation of a bus and cash to assist the group in their programme.

The national chairman of the group, Pastor [Dr] C.D. Jacob disclosed that the organization comprised over 5,000 ministers of God from all the six geo-political zones of the country who came together for the purpose of interceding for the peace and progress of Nigeria through prayers.

He said the group had earlier arranged and paid for a venue at Aba for their convention before they were dislodged by Abia State Security operatives who did not give reasons for not allowing them host their meeting at Aba. “All things worketh for good to those that love God”, he concluded.

Contributing, the Abia State Chapter Chairman of Nigeria Rescue Missionaries Network, Rev Greg Nwokorie expressed regrets that the ministers had gathered for the programme before they were dislodged.

He disclosed that part of the programme slated for the event was to honour governor Okorocha whom he described as a beacon of Christianity.

The group used the event to identify with Owelle Okorocha on his 51st birthday and presented him a Holy Bible for his birthday gift.
