A group, Society for Good Governance (SGG),  has called on President  Goodluck  Jonathan to consider Nigerians with the capacity to drive development of the country in appointing the next set of ministers to replace the nine ministers sacked Wednesday.
Speaking in Asaba, National Cordinator of the association, Daniel Akpovure, urged President Jonathan to look beyond politicians and appoint committed Nigerians whose  loyalty and commitment  to national development is unwavering.
The group urged the President to appoint competent professionals whose loyalty should be to the Nigerian constitution  as against  those who work for godfathers who made their appointments possible.
“At  this critical time, Mr President needs to  look at people who have the interest of the nation at heart. People who are first loyal to the Constitution,  Mr President and the Nigerian People. We do not need  law breakers whose loyalty is to godfathers first before nation”, the group said.
The group, in a statement , said Nigeria is a nation of intellectuals with varying backgrounds who are not necessarily  party members.
“What happened to Shehu Sanni, a human rights activist, Femi Falana, a fighter for people’s rights, Jahlil Tafawa Balewa, a notable medical practitioner and nuclear  chemist, Fidel Ayogu, a former ambassador Olisa Agbakoba, former NBA Chairman or Tony Elumelu, former  Chief Executive of UBA, Mike Ozekhome?
“Why must we continue to recycle disloyal, incompetent and  so called party men whose loyalty  to the president or the nation will always be in doubt?”, the group queried.
Society for Good Governance  therefore urged President Jonathan to take steps to address the issues raised in the appointment of ministers to replace those fired last Wednesday.
