The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West has described the alleged deduction of Local Government funds and non-payment of the N18,000 minimum wage to the council workers by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi as not only wicked but criminal.

The party described the crises currently being faced by the ACN government in the State as a confirmation of God’s word in Isaiah 48:22 and 57:21 which say; “There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked” and “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”

Reacting to the Local Council workers’ protest that crippled commercial activities in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital today, PDP Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kayode Babade said the protest was a sign of the collapse of the house of fraud built for the ACN in Ekiti State by Justice Ayo Salami and his cohorts.

The PDP, which described the Local Council workers protest as symbolic, said; “In the history of Ekiti State, Local Government workers have never protested against any government. But today, it has happened with more than 5,000 of the workers on the streets of Ado-Ekiti, calling Fayemi all kinds of unprintable names.

“That to us is a sign of end-time for the Salamic government in Ekiti and as it is written in the Holy Bible, Isaiah 48:22 and 57:21, there will be no peace for those who got to the government house through acts of wickedness.”

While admonishing Fayemi to come to the open and confess the underhand deals that got him to power, the PDP said; “The signs are ominous. It is either he (Fayemi) is at loggerheads with civil servants, he is being cursed by angry teachers or he is being protested against by angry Local Council workers.

“All these point to one fact, the wicked will never have peace!”

Calling for immediate payment of the N18,000 minimum wage to the Council workers, the party said the State government has no excuse not to pay, having promised to pay since December, last year.

The party, which warned Fayemi to stop pilfering Local Council funds, said; “it is interesting that the same Fayemi, whose party is always sermonizing about true federalism in Nigeria has refused to allow the local councils to function.”
