The dust raised by the supposed whistle blower – oil mogul, Femi Otedola, against the Chairman of the adhoc Committee on Oil Subsidy probe at the lower chamber of the National Assembly [NASS], Hon. Farouk Lawan, may not be isolated to the chairman alone. Information recently made available to 247ureports.com through sources close to the house of representative member representing Darazo/Ganjuwa in Bauchi State, Hon. Umar Abibakar Sade, reveals the Hon. Sade may have partook of his share of ‘shakedowns’ of oil companies for oil subsidy bribe money.

The new development comes on the heels of the recent information received from the Nigerian Police Force [NPF] headquarters in Abuja indicating the police investigators assigned to the oil subsidy bribery case have expressed interest in ‘talking’ to the entire members of the adhoc committee chaired by Hon. Farouk Lawan concerning their role in the bribery scandal.

As gathered, a highly credible source close to the administrative secretary to Hon. Umar Abibakar Sade, a lady by the name, Safi’at revealed that during the final days of the probe hearing that she [the secretary] came across a significant ‘stash’ of cash [dollars in $100 denominations] stashed in a travelers-bag that was delivered to the lawmaker’s office. Customarily, she expected to partake of the hard currency – as normally would be the case when monies are shared at the lower chamber amongst the lawmakers. But this time, she was not given any of the money – or even a promised from the lawmaker. The source notes that the secretary was livid at the lawmaker’s refusal to ‘share the money’.

Days following the arrival of the travelers-bag at the lawmaker’s office, Hon. Umar Abubakar Sade began exhibiting signs of having received huge sum of money  from unexplained source. Hon. Umar Abibakar Sade, in a knee-jerk fashion, purchased four [4] bulletproof Sport Utility Vehicles [SUV] and gave it away to four of his associates – the former executive member of the Congress for Progressive Change [CPC], Musa Babiu; the “Adedibu of Bauchi”, the Bauchi State Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] Chairman and to another ranking member of the State PDP executive. Each SUV was estimated at N40million each equivalent to N160million in total.

In addition to the bazaar of SUVs, the lawmaker turned to the acquisition of landed properties within the Abuja area. Hon. Umar Abibakar Sade made a grand purchase of a massive farmland in Karshi located within the federal capital territory [FCT] estimated at near N110million. He also purchased a luxurious home in Karsi and another in Kado [also in Abuja]. Both houses, according to a source [who is a real estate expert], are valued in excess of N210million.

It is uncertain to 247ureports.com the source of the sudden pike in wealth of the lawmaker but sources within the lawmaker’s circle point to three Nigerian oil companies as having been the victims of the lawmaker’s shakedown. Two out of the three oil companies mentioned were A. A. Rano and the Dantata owned MRS oil group. The source indicated that the lawmaker approached the three oil companies with the promise of aiding them against the possible indictment by the committee’s report. It however remains unverified but sources with the police force investigating the case reveal that the investigating team has begun to develop a case against the lawmaker. Unofficially, the police told our correspondent that Hon. Umar Abibakar Sade maybe invited to the police headquarters my mid-next week.
