Ahead of the March 2, 2012 proposed final interment of the late Igbo leader, onour e h the Eze igbo gburu gburu, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, his son, Emeka Jnr, has been bestowed with the Ikemba 11 of Igboland, after his father.

Emeka Ojukwu Jnr was conferred with the title by the traditional ruler of Nawfia of the Umunri Clan, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo, the Osuofia of Nawfia. He gave the Ofor Igbo, an insignia of authority, fair play, truth and justice to him and urged him to use it judiciously only when the need arises.

This took place yesterday when the late Ojuwu’s son paid a customary visit to his maternal kindred and the monarch to formally inform them of his father’s demise and burial arrangements.

In a brief remark during the event at his palace, Igwe Nwankwo charged the young Emeka to carry on with the good and definitive steps and tasks left behind by his father who he said loved the Igbos unequivocally without any regrets.

He cautioned those fanning the embers of insecurity and disunity in the country to leave the igbos alone as no one will blame them if they decide to react of defend themselves.

Nwankwo said it is more beneficial to all for the nation to remain united. The monarch frowned at the killing of the igbos in parts of the country especially the North, charging the leaders in the zone to give unambiguous assurance of the safety of the Igbos living and doing businesses in their domain, or we send them our own brand of security at once.

Hear him, “if the Northern leaders, governors, Emirs and Serikis cannot assure or guarantee the safety, security and liberty of our people in their domain, we are ready and willing to send our own security to them at once. You can call it any name-Bakassi, MASSOB or vigilante, as you like..”

Ojukwu Jnr said the honour has now bolstered his resolve to march on with all the strength of courageous men. He said it was very gratifying that his maternal kinsmen considered him worthy to inherit his father’s traditional titles of Ikemba Igboland with all the insignia and paraphernalia of the office.

On hand to witness the brief but impressive occasion was the Eze (Prof) Amuzienwa Odigbo of Nkwesi Kingdom, a member of the Imo State Council of Ndieze
