Delta State governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, has ordered the management of Grand Hotels, Asaba, to disallow the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction from holding their scheduled meeting in the state capital.

This is coming on the heels of the fall apart between Okowa and Carol Odjugbo, whom the governor axed out of office as the South-south chairman of the party under Senator Ahmed Markafi faction.

The meeting was later moved to Agbor, the country home of Odjugbo, while men of the Department for State Service (DSS), with over five Hilux vans were stationed in various strategic positions in the hotel.

Security officers in the hotel were also on ground to prevent any person either trekking or driving into the hotel as a result of the meeting while several supporters of Senator Sheriff were stranded as a result of the shift of venue.

Some persons who spoke with our correspondent said, “We know that this is the hand work of Okowa but we are not worried. We are earnestly waiting for 2019 to come and we will know who is who in the state”.

They berated Okowa for what they described as ‘bad system of governance’ in the state.
