The much publicised roads the Delta State governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa promised Deltans his government would embark on has become a forgotten issue.

Okowa, in his maiden press briefing promised to embark on massive road construction in his first year in office, however, the reverse is the case.

While the governor constructed several kilometres of roads in Delta North, major roads which connect several communities in Delta Central has been neglected.

One of such roads, is the Ughelli/Affiesere/Ofuoma roads which connects Isiokolo, Okpara, Oviore and leading to Warri, the commercial hub of the state has been left alone.

Affiesere town, is the home town of Olorogun David Edevbie, Okowa’s Finance Commissioner, and it is the highest oil rich producing communities in the state.

The governor who successfully deceived Deltans, began the construction of the road from Amekpa junction by Ughelli/Warri road and ended it half way after it was commissioned without completion.

Ofuoma, on the other hand house the state own school of Health Technology, Ofuoma.

The abandoned 8.5 kilometres Ughelli/Afiesere/Ofuoma road has caused a hike in transport fare, making the living standard of the people difficult as the road has turned a dead trap.

The construction equipment kept at Affiesere Secondary School by the construction firm has been evacuated from the school premises while other materials such as sands, granites are been sold by unidentified individuals.
