Makerere University Sex Scandal: A Lecturer Is Suspended And Placed On Half Salary

Mr Edward Kisuze of Makerere University, Uganda has been suspended and
placed on half salary till the end of investigation over sexual
harassment.
The suspension follows an allegation of sexual harassment levelled
against him by a student named Racheal Njeri, on Friday, April 13,
2018, when she had visited the school to accept her transcript as well
as a recommendation letter in Mr Edward Kisuze office, identified as
room 507.
On the 17th April, 2018, the management served Mr Edward suspension
later through her acting VC, William Bazero Esq. “I hereby suspend you
from university service on half pay with immediate effect to allow a
smooth investigation into the matter.
“You are strongly advised to desist from any access to the senate
building premises and interactions with students of Makerere
University until investigations are completed. You are further
required to handover all university property that may be in your
possession.”
Meanwhile, Mr Edward Kisuze has been asked to explain the allegation
upon the letter received from Racheal Njeri. When he could not provide
a satisfactory explanation, the university then placed him on
immediate suspension on half pay, pending an investigation into the
allegation. An investigation committee has been setup to investigate
what exactly happened.
Njeri who has earlier sent a letter to the management over the sexual
harassment on Monday, 16th April, 2018 explained in details how Mr
Edward Kisuze fondled her breast and stripped her down to her
underpants. This was contained in a picture she took while struggling
to resist the assault from Mr Edward Kisuze. “I tried to resist his
actions but he was stronger than I was. He grabbed me and threw me on
the cabinet files at the corner,” Njeri laments.
