IPU: Mark leads Nigerian lawmakers to Geneva

Senate President, David Mark, will lead Nigerian Parliamentarians to participate in the 130th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference holding in Geneva, Switzerland.

 

A press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, states that the weeklong global legislative conference begins on Saturday March 15, 2014, and ends on March 21, 2014.

 

This year’s conference will focus on “IPU at 125: Renewing our Commitment to Peace and Democracy in the World,” which coincides with the anniversary of the legislative Assembly.

 

Other issues billed for debate include:  a nuclear-weapon-free world and the role of parliaments in protecting the rights of children.

Mark is billed to address the IPU General Assembly on: The Gains, Prospects and Challenges So Far.”

 

Mark is accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, Senate Minority Whip, Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, Senators Abdulazeez Usman, Helen Esuene, Ehigie Uzamere and Hassan Barata.

 

Others on the entourage are members of the House of Reps, Daniel Reyenieju, Mohammed Idris, Binta Fatima Bello and Raphael Nnanna Igbokwe.
