The gubernatorial race in Anambra State may become the political marker for what the political climate will become in 2019 general elections. This is as political gladiators find themselves engaged in a game of horse shoe race.Within the past two months, virtually the entire politicians with deep pockets have dumped their previous political parties for the ruling party – the All Progressive Alliance [APC].
Personalities such as the Senator representing the south district of Anambra State, Andy Ubah, the sack senator representing the central district, Uche Ekwunife, the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi and others – are mentioned as recent defectors from their political parties into a supposed ruling party.
A former political aide to the former governor of Anambra State [Peter Obi], Mazi Benji Obi spoke to 247ureports.com from his vacation home in the United States of America regarding his concerns over the defectors to the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] and to the APC. He pointed to the recent defectors as being prompted by the hope the presidency with rig the upcoming gubernatorial election in favor of the APC gubernatorial candidate. “They want to steal our votes with help from Abuja“.
He went on to add that the people of Anambra know them and their antecedents. “They are not popular or wanted in Anambra“said the former aide and close confidant to Peter Obi. He labelled the sacked senator [Uche Ekwunife] as a political harlot who have cross carpeted from all the known political parties – from PDP to PPA to PDP to APGA to PDP to APC within the last four years. “Anambra people know her very well. She can not will any election in Anambra without rigging“. He continued, “same thing goes for Andy Uba who decamped from his PDP to APC to contest for guber“.
“All of them are corrupt and rogues. They cannot stay in one party or their known party to contest for election.” Benji Obi was unapologetic as he called out on Andy Uba and Uche Ekwunife to dare stand for primaries in their parties. “They would lose badly“. He called them “bad eggs” in Anambra State.
Benji Obi who is presently tending to a leg injury at a medical center in the USA called out to the APC bigwigs in Abuja to know that their new intakes are not political gains but dead weights. “They can do nothing for your APC in Anambra“.
He went on to add that Anambra remains an APGA [All Progressive Grand Alliance] State.
