The Catholic bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has hailed the courage of Lean Sharibu, one of the Dapchi abducted school girls, said to have been denied freedom by Boko Haram terrorists due to her refusal to deny her Christian’s faith.

He described the girl as a living saint, saying such rare courage was an indication that her parents trained her in the ways of God.

Speaking at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, on the state of the nation, the bishop said he hoped to see Lean and her family personally, adding that she had done what many adult Christians could not do.

He charged the federal government and security agents to double their efforts in getting the young girl freed from her abductors, just as he appealed to her abductors to use the Easter period to reunite her with her family members.

“If they can release her colleagues, why didn’t they release Lean?

“Nigeria is meant for us all. We should always remember that our country is a secular state where Christianity, Islam and other religious beliefs held sway. Therefore, none should be given preferential treatment.

“We are appealing to those still holding this innocent girl to use this Easter period to reunite her with her family members.

“Leah actions shows that she was faithful. It also shows that her parents trained her in the ways of God,” he added.
