Benue Killings: An Open Letter To President Muhammadu Buhari

An Open Letter To President Muhammadu Buhari, President Of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria And Commander-In-Chief Of The Armed Forces

Your Excellency, when President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua died on May 5, 2010, I supported President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in People’s Democratic Party (PDP) when you contested against him in the 2011 presidential election in the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). My reason for compaigning for Jonathan was with the belief that he would continue with the positive agenda of Late Yar’Adua.

When Jonathan won the presidential election in 2011, and set the mechinery of his government in motion, I felt he would make potent impact beyond expection but he rather allowed so many factors to mar his government ranging from insecurity to corruption.

When you emerged as the presidential candidate on the Platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), I supported, rigorously and relentlessly campainged for you and most people thought you directly employed me to do so. But my campaign for you was for you to come and fix Nigeria in those areas Jonathan failed to do so.

The day you won the election and was sworn-in on May 29, 2015, most Nigerians were excited that the “Saviour” has come and would turn things around. But you have not convinced Nigerians enough that you are still that “saviour” Nigeria needs.

You have done some things worthy of commendation which I have always commended you. But you have been indifferent to the general security of Nigerians, especially in the issue of Fulani herdsmen attacks which is one of the areas where you have failed Nigerians.

Despite the anger of the people of Benue State including those in other states who have suffered the attacks, most of them are willing to forgive you and give you a second chance if you will handle this issue without compromise.

Mr President, please you need to act now before it is too late!
