The Nasarawa State impeachment saga continues to unfold in layers and in form. Information available to 247ureports.com obtained through sources within the government house in [Lafia] Nasarawa State indicate that uncertainty and confusion has taken over the workers secretariat – owing to a plenary session held by the members of the Nasarawa State legislation at a hotel in Karu, Nasarawa State where its reached several resolutions – of which one of them included the freezing of all Nasarawa State bank accounts.

A state confusion is said to have taken a hold of many within the Nasarawa civil service – as to the availability of funds. Some within the government house told our reporter that they are not sure if the State assembly had the powers to freeze the state’s account – and that if the accounts were frozen that it would hit the Al Makura administration below the belt. This is because the Al Makura administration had embarked on a massive exercise of draw down of the state accounts since the impeachment saga began.

The source pointed to a recent withdrawal by the Secretary to State Government of N250million supposedly for the setting up of a panel to prosecute the Eggon/Ombatse members over their role in the said massacre of security officials. The panel has yet to be set up. Another withdrawal of N500milliion was carried out by state house by a close aide to the governor supposedly to address pressing security issues. The pressing security issues were not detailed, according to the source.

The allegation of a massive drawdown by the Al Makura administration was also seconded by a member of the state assembly who told 247ureports.com that the Governor had withdrawn over N3billion within a span of four [4] days. “We started to notice the withdrawals a week ago” said the lawmaker who continued to add that the State Governor has virtually emptied the state coffers.

He also added that the lawmakers had no legal right to freeze state accounts.

Stay tuned.
