Burial of Chief Obijiaku: Oraukwu Community Moves to Carpet Court Order

The proposed purported burial rites of late Chief C.O.N Obijiaku of Oraukwu, Idemili North Local Government area of Anambra State as been arranged by a click in Ibenabo village in Oraukwu, have been described as total disobedience to court order by some disgruntled elements who claimed that they are above the law of the land.

Having discovered that few people in the click of not allowing peace to reign in Ibenabo wants to bury the late Chief blessed with progressives children as if he never had an issue, the children of Chief C.O.N. Obijiaku warned that any attempt to give their late father unwarranted burial by the click of trouble makers will be resisted.

In a statement issued by the children of Chief Obijiaku through their family counsel, J.S.N Unata and made available to journalists in Onitsha yesterday, they said their father who died about five years ago was buried without performing his burial rites due to the case instituted in court in Suit No MID/356/2010 by the same click fingered to have killed the late Chief.

It would be recalled that an Honourable Court of competent jurisdiction had advised every party concerned to maintain the status quo antebellum, pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Investigation into the matter that is likely to cause the breach of peace in Oraukwu reveals that the click moving to bury late C.O.N Obijiaku allegedly played one role or the other in the circumstance surrendering the death of the man that reign his village spotless.

It was gathered that the spirit of the late man according to sources has started hunting the members of the click fingered to be responsible for the death of Obi-Isi-Mili of Ibenabo-Oraukwu, this according to sources, compelled the click to do anything at their reach to accord the deceased his funeral rites.

A notable Oraukwu bigwig who never wanted his name in print, conferred on this reporter that the click in Ibenabo-Oraukwu has gone beyond defrauding unsuspecting members of Oraukwu and some of the friends of the late chief under the pretense that Obi-Isi-Mili of Ibenabo-Oraukwu will be given his burial rites by his family members whereas the children of the deceased said they are not aware of the purported funeral rites of their late father.

Stating that they are not against the performance of the funeral rites of their late father, their only concern according the 1st son of the family is that if the people of Ibenabo are so desirous to perform the funeral rites, it behooves on them to first withdrew the said case that is lying in court of law since the said suit was initiated at that click’s of Ibenabo people’s instance.

“It is to be noted that any attempt to carry out, humiliate and give the deceased unwarranted funeral rites to late Chief C.O.N. Obijiaku without the consent and approval of the 1st son of the family is an alien to the custom and tradition of the great Oraukwu Kingdom, and as such for want of better diction could be termed as a taboo, abomination, an aberration contrary to tenets of Oraukwu custom. Therefore, the click should be very wary on any steep they might think of taking, which could lead to cause of action in the nearest future” family source warned.

Threatening that if the click that termed it to be the sole resolution of the entire people of Ibenabo-Oraukwu forges ahead to carry out their alleged unwarranted act and illegal move, what would remain for the already aggrieved children of the late Chief was to subject them to go into court litigation in the said suit conspicuously pending in the court of law.

The family through the legal luminary however advised the people accused of been criminally minded to respect and have regard to the matter which is already before the Honourable Court, and never to usurp the jurisdiction of the court as to escape contempt of court thereof.
