Over 1000 people living at the riverine areas of Buruku, a Benue LG, have been dewormed by a political support group, Samuel Ortom Reelection Actualization Initiative.

The exercise was staged in Buruku Market where the vaccines were administered to the children of 2 to 18 years of age.

A volunteer with the group, Mr Kenkeng Ati who helped in administering the drugs said Buruku was chosen to benefit from the programme because it is prone to worms due to its proximity to the river.

He praised the people of Buruku community for their large turnout promising a repeat of the exercise in the area soon so that more people can be dewormed.

Leader of Samuel Ortom Reelection Actualization Initiative, Mr Abel Augustine Ochai expressed happiness at the large number of people who turned up to partake in the exercise which he noted were not based on party affiliation.

Mr Ochai disclosed that the exercise was a continuation of the 400,000 deworming project of the group which began in Wadata, a riverine community in Makurdi, the state capital.

He advised the people especially those living around the riverine areas to make themselves available to be dewormed when the team visits.

In their repones, some of the beneficiaries of the programme, Denis Ahamgba and Denis Tyonum thanked the group for bringing such health programme to their doorsteps.

They therefore appealed to the government to support the group to cover larger population ig the state and other ailments.
