Uneasy Calm Greets New DSS Boss From Kano, “Seiyefa Gave Us Hope From Daura Regime”
As the news of President Buhari’s appointment of the new DSS boss and the sack of the Bayelsa born DSS boss filtered across the ranks of the DSS, there appear a cold chill resonating through the rank and file of the department. The jubilation within the DSS staff which greeted the Seiyefa appointment was not witnessed among the DSS staff.
According to information made available to 247ureports.com from competent sources, the arrival of the former DSS boss, Seiyefa came with hope and promises. Seiyefa had promised the DSS staff and operatives their allowances and owed salaries will be cleared. “He wanted the commencement of that payment from October. Now that he’s gone, no faith again. So no need for jubilation.”
It was gathered that the arrival of Seiyefa had given hope to the staff. “Daura stopped all allowances, plain cloth allowance, operations and intelligence allowance”. For an average operative, the allowances are over N100,000. This is not including “our salary harmonization by rank”.
“Daura was supposed to pay but claimed there was no money from FG”. This is while the DSS had continued a silent recruitment exercise that gave preference to geo political regions of the country. One of the recent recruitment was of a former “Okada Man” in Karshi axis of the federal capital territory. He is Fulani by tribe and hails from Adamawa State.
The source who spoke from a position of firsthand knowledge concluded that “Nigeria has been bastardized. Buhari is not in charge”.
According to the press statement from the presidency announcing the sack of Seiyefa and appointment of Bichi, the new appointee is a core Secret Service operative who attended Danbatta Secondary School, the Kano State College of Advanced Studies and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. He began his career in the security division of the Cabinet Office in Kano, from where he joined the defunct Nigerian Security Organization (NSO), the precursor of the present DSS.
In the course of his career, Mr. Bichi has worked as the State Director of Security in Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto and Abia States.
He retired over six months ago.
A press statement from the southern and middle belt leaders forum signed by Chief E.K Clark [SOUTH SOUTH], Chief Ayo Adebanjo [SOUTH WEST], Chief John Nwodo [SOUTH EAST], Dr Bitrus Pogu [MIDDLE BELT] stated that:
“We have looked critically at the profiles of the Acting DG who was removed and the one Buhari just appointed and it is crystal clear that Bichi does not come with any experience close to that of Seiyefa. The only qualification for this appointment is therefore only the rabid nepotism of the President which has seen him always masking personal and sectional interest as “national interest.”
Besides, Bichi is an out-of-the -system man drafted by Mr Lawan Daura in the days of his nepotism rule at the DSS. The next six most senior persons in line of succession at the DSS after Seiyefa are from our findings are all southerners which may explain why the President picked a man who already retired from the DSS to lead because of ethnic affinity.”
There is the fear of Buhari executing a complete northernization of all the security arms of the federal government.
