Septuagenarian Prison Inmate Begs For Release Of Self, Wife

A septuagenarian prison inmate in Delta State, Mr. Lucky Ishaka, has pleaded with the Delta State Delta State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, to grant him and his wife pardon and release from prison.
Lucky (71) and his wife, Margaret (56), who were convicted and jailed for 37 years for conspiracy, armed robbery and kidnapping, are inmates of Warri prisons.
They were discovered during the cause of interaction by members of the Committee, headed by Chief Patrick Okpakpor, with inmates of the prison.
The Committee members were astonished when they discovered that six children of the couple who has been in jail since 2012, are left at the mercy of the society.
The septuagenarian who is now partially blind, pleaded with the Committee to consider his plight and that of his wife by granting them pardon.
Among the over 1,500 inmates of the Warri prisons which was initially built to accommodate 307 inmates, were 222, who are on the awaiting death list.
Chairman of the Advisory Council, Chief Patrick Okpakpor, was stunned by the magnitude of congestion in the prison, a situation he
said should be treated as a national emergency.
