Owerri Traders Rain Curses At Okorocha

By Austin Echefu

Traders at the New Market Owerri, Imo State, which was set ablaze by unknown person on Wednesday were on Thursday morning wailing and cursing the Governor over their loss in the market.

When 247ureports visited the market on Thursday morning, the angry traders at the market which is a motor spareparts center, were evacuating what was left of their shops, wailing and cursing the Governor and prayed God to avenge on their behalf.

One of the traders told this medium that he recently obtained a loan of N10m from a bank and has not been able to pay back, lamenting that he has suffered double loss as his shop was also gutted by fire.

He said he was making arrangements to evacuate his wares on Thursday before fire struck and destroyed his investment.

According to him, the market association has not been able to aggregate the loss, saying that it runs into hundreds of millions.

However, it was observed that the fire did not affect all the sections of the market, though the fire went as far as the Federal Line.

This medium also gathered that men of the Fire Service were overwhelmed by the fire as they ran out water and went away, adding that it was by the combined efforts of some of the traders and passersby and the grace of God that the fire was put off.

The cause of the fire incident is still not known.
