Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has distanced himself from recent comments by former Special Adviser to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), George Turnah against Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson.

According to him, contrary to insinuations in some quarters, he was not behind Turnah’s personal fight with the governor and would not in anyway support it.

“Turnah is on his own as he does not have the authority to issue statements on my behalf. I will not be a party to any arrangement that will undermine the office of a governor especially that of my home state.”

‎Jonathan maintained that he takes exception to people using‎ his name to gain cheap political fame as Turnah is doing, insisting that he will always stand by what is right even if it will hurt those around him.

‎He also frowned at those who described Turnah as his Godson‎, saying such appellation has embarrassed him and his immediate family as there is no record of any religious exercise that gave rise to that name.

“I am in shock at reports of me sponsoring some media attacks against the Governor of Bayelsa State. It is purely political ‎and I am totally not is support of such divisive actions. If for anything, we should support the governor’s developmental efforts.”
